Nirvana - Nirvana

0
Nirvana was the third Nirvana album to be released following the death of singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain in April 1994, and the first to feature studio material. It contains the previously unreleased "You Know You're Right", a song recorded during the band's final studio session from January 1994. The album also includes a selection of the band's more popular songs, pulled mostly from 1991's Nevermind and 1993's In Utero.

Nirvana was released following the settlement of a long-standing legal dispute between Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, and surviving Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl.

From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah is a live album by the American Grunge band Nirvana. It was released on October 1, 1996 and features live performances recorded from 1989 to 1994. As opposed to Nirvana's previous live album, MTV Unplugged in New York, From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah features mainly heavier and faster songs. The album has been certified Platinum by the R.I.A.A, and as of January 2007, it has sales of over 1.2 million in the United States alone.

Nirvana - Incesticide

0
Incesticide is a compilation album by Nirvana. Incesticide consists of demos, outtakes, and radio broadcast recordings. At the time, all of the material on Incesticide was circulating within fan communities (albeit in lower quality). It was widely reported in the music press that the band wanted to offer fans a higher-quality alternative, but in the book Cobain Unseen, Charles R. Cross reveals that Kurt Cobain agreed to the release of this compilation because he was allowed complete control over the album's artwork. The album was released on December 14, 1992 in Europe, and December 15, 1992 in the United States.

Nirvana's Incesticide tends to be glossed over when people talk about Nirvana, because it doesn't contain the classics "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "Heart-Shaped Box," or "Rape Me." However, Incesticide is worth getting if you have already have Nevermind of In Utero. At the first listen, you'll notice that the production values are different. The songs are in a more raw form, and sometimes, the balance is off, making some songs really bass-heavy while some of them lack the bottom end. This gives Incesticide much variety. In addition to the depressed grunge normally associated with the band, there are also some optimistic-sounding punk songs.

Nirvana - Nevermind

0
Nevermind is the second studio album by Nirvana, released on September 24, 1991. Frontman Kurt Cobain sought to make music outside the restrictive confines of the Seattle grunge scene, drawing influence from groups such as the Pixies and their use of loud/quiet song dynamics.
Despite low commercial expectations by the band and its record label, Nevermind became a surprise success in late 1991, largely due to the popularity of its first single, "Smells Like Teen Spirit". The Recording Industry Association of America has certified the album ten times platinum (10 million copies shipped), and the album has sold over 26 million copies worldwide. Nevermind was responsible for bringing alternative rock to a large mainstream audience, and critics subsequently regarded it as one of the best rock albums of all time.

Nirvana - Bleach

0
Bleach is the debut album by rock band Nirvana, released in June 1989 through the Sub Pop. The main recording sessions took place at Reciprocal Recording in Seattle, Washington between December 1988 and January 1989. Kurt Cobain felt pressured to create music for Bleach that conformed to the grunge music style favored by his record label and the contemporary Seattle music scene. The album is regarded as quite negative and bleak; Cobain has claimed that most of the lyrics were written the night before recording while he was feeling "pissed off", and that he did not regard them highly. The recording of the album was financed by Jason Everman, who was credited as a guitarist but did not play on any songs.
Bleach was well received by critics, but failed to chart in the US upon its original release. The album was re-released internationally by Geffen Records in 1992 following the success of Nirvana's Nevermind. "Bleach" has sold over 1.7 million units in the United States alone, and over 4.0 million units worldwide. It is Sub Pop's best-selling release ever.
